North Idaho College to host poet laureate Monday

The North Idaho College Writing Center’s visiting writer series will host the 2024 Spokane Poet Laureate Mery Smith during a reading at noon Monday.
The reading will be at the writing center in the Lee Hall Annex on NIC’s Coeur d’Alene campus.
The event is free and open to the public.
In a Wednesday news release, Smith said she aims to facilitate workshops in schools and communities of all folks while writing in places people don't normally imagine poetry being.
Her work can be found online at Pictures of Poets, In the Neighborhood and in the anthologies “Listen to Your Mother” and “Pivot and Pause.” Her poetry was featured in the publication The Comet and she has published one chapbook titled “Crumbs."
