Recycle in style: Junk 2 Funk returns Oct. 12

| September 26, 2024 1:00 AM

After a multi-year hiatus following the COVID-19 pandemic, the Kootenai Environmental Alliance's Junk 2 Funk will return Oct. 12 in all its eco-fashion glory.

Audiences will witness the fusion of creativity, sustainability and fashion at the 13th annual event, which will be held in the ballroom of the Coeur d'Alene Eagles, 209 Sherman Ave. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Junk 2 Funk is a celebration of style and innovation while working to make a positive impact in the heart of Coeur d'Alene. Local talents will strut their stuff on the runway, showcasing imaginative fashion pieces created from recycled materials.

The event will be for adults 18 and older or 16-17 with guardians.

Junk 2 Funk is more than just a fashion show — it's a movement that encourages everyone to reduce waste, reuse and recycle. With a strong commitment to environmental sustainability, this event brings together artists, designers and fashion enthusiasts from across the region, all united by their passion for preserving the planet.

The Kootenai Environmental Alliance is inviting artistic types with the knack for turning trash into treasure to participate in this year's event and help show the world how creativity and sustainability can come together to make a positive impact. All outfits created for and modeled during the show must be made of at least 80% garbage.

Visit kealliance.org for tickets and for details about how to sign up as an artist or model. Show admission begins at $45.

The nonprofit Kootenai Environmental Alliance is dedicated to protecting and preserving the environment of North Idaho while advocating for responsible environmental stewardship.
