ENDORSEMENT: Havercroft for NIC Board
I am choosing to vote for Mary Havercroft for the North Idaho College board of trustees, Zone 5. Mary’s broad educational experience as a classroom teacher, special education instructor, special education director and elementary principal all give her a strong background to provide leadership needed for this college board.
Mary has extensive knowledge in school funding, budgeting, and educational law due to her employment as both director of special education and elementary principal. Both are critical in making board decisions at North Idaho College.
I could expound more on her qualifications and certifications but I want you to get a glimpse of her character as a human being and the value she has for others to reach their potential through education. I had the privilege of working with Mary for 30-plus years in the Lakeland School District. I saw her demonstrate a genuine respect for others in listening and communicating with students, staff and parents. As humans, we all have different perspectives and visions which can sometimes lead to conflict. Whenever a conflict occurred, she worked hard to find solutions which focused on the needs of the students. Her focus was on the student and providing them with opportunities to learn skills enabling them to reach their hopes and dreams.
My wife and two of my children graduated from North Idaho College and pursued further education at other institutions. They all found this college preparation excellent for their future endeavors.
Our community and society all become more vibrant and productive when we help others to reach their full potential. Mary Havercroft is uniquely qualified to help NIC navigate out of their current accreditation fiasco caused by some members of the current board. Vote for Mary Havercroft! She will work tirelessly to help North Idaho College regain its respected status and true potential for our community.
