Donnie A. Hiatt, 79
Donnie A. Hiatt, known to his friends as Don, was born March 31, 1945, in Sandpoint, Idaho. He married his high school sweetheart, Beth Kellogg, there June 11, 1965.
Don found peace Sept. 16, 2024, at the age of 79, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. As usual, he passed away where and with whom he wanted: at home and with his family.
Don's calling was working for the Idaho State Police. Anyone who met him knows he was passionate about helping people and shooting the breeze. He commanded respect and gave it in turn. He was a man of character and wasn’t afraid to let you know if you were leaving the straight and narrow, a trait he instilled into all of his children.
Don was an avid outdoorsman and hunter. He loved to listen to the old-timers' stories and told a few of his own to whomever would listen. We’ll forever hold dear the tales he spun and the adventures shared. He is survived by his devoted wife, Beth; his loving daughter, Lisa; and his spirited grandsons: Cameron, Nathan, Hunter, Cash, Jesse, Jacob and Taylor. Each member of his family will miss him deeply, cherishing the moments they had together.
Donnie joins his parents, Don and Mary, his sister, Sue, and his son, Greg, in eternal rest. The memories he created and the love he fostered will continue to run free within the hearts of those left behind.
Friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life Sept. 28, 2024, at English Funeral Chapel and Crematory, located at 1133 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The service will begin at 3 p.m., concluding around 4 p.m. A reception will follow with snacks and drinks.
In this time of loss, we honor Don’s life, his legacy of service, and the countless moments that made him the beloved husband, father, and grandfather he was. His spirit will forever remain in the love he shared and the stories he told.
