Person rescued after fire in Post Falls barn

POST FALLS — A structure fire involving the rescue of a person having a mental health crisis occurred Saturday night on Meyer Road in Post Falls, Kootenai County Fire and Rescue reported.
The initial 911 concerned a person inside of a barn, which was actively on fire.
When first responders arrived, crews discovered a medium-sized barn with visible smoke. Fire crews made entry to search for the person and extinguish the fire. After about five minutes of searching, a person was located and rescued.
The person was immediately brought to a waiting ambulance and transported in critical condition to a local trauma center.
