• BOYS SOCCER

SANDPOINT — Senior Luke Leavitt had two goals and assisted on two others for Sandpoint, which beat the previously unbeaten Coeur d’Alene Vikings 4-1 in a nonleague match at War Memorial Field on Saturday.

Gavan Miles had 10 saves for Sandpoint (5-3-2).

"It was a team victory, everyone very much showed up," Sandpoint coach Dan Anderson said. "I'm tremendously proud of the effort from the first guy to the last guy — the guy that played 80 minutes to the guy who didn't see the field. The focus, determination, heart, was shown by everyone on the team and was a huge boost for us throughout the game when we needed it."

Senior Kason Pintler scored on an assist from Keaton Gust for Coeur d’Alene (7-1) in the 37th minute to cut the Bulldogs' lead to 2-1.

“Sandpoint came out with a little more intensity than us,” Coeur d’Alene coach Robbie Harmelink said. “They caught us off guard and it’s a good wakeup call for us. We found ourselves complacent, and there’s always a fear that can creep in after seven straight wins. Sandpoint’s a good program, and we need to look in the mirror and realize the job’s not done yet. We need to come to work each day and that  includes me as well.”

Sandpoint travels to Moscow on Friday.
