AQUIFER: Plenty of water

| September 22, 2024 1:00 AM

Your article serves to scare the public with incomplete and contrived information.

Our aquifer is mostly fed by the ponderay lake and watershed which combines several inputs from rivers and streams as well as other smaller aquifers and watersheds. A simple search will find Clark Fork, Ponderay, Spirit Lake, Twin, Newman, St. Marie’s, St. Joe River, Coeur d’Alene River and many other streams, rivers, lakes and watersheds feed the Rathdrum Aquifer. There is no doubt the water supply should be protected but please complete the article. The Rathdrum Prairie was full of 24-hour irrigation for years and that process used much more water than is pumped for housing and commercial use today.  There is not likely to be any shortage of water other than one created for control and price increase.
