PREP ROUNDUP: Pintler pushes Vikings past Lewiston boys

COEUR d’ALENE — Senior forward Kason Pintler recorded a hat trick for Coeur d’Alene, with two assists coming from sophomore Isaac Lowder in a 3-0 Inland Empire League win over the Lewiston Bengals at Viking Field on Thursday.

“Lewiston came at us with a high line on defense, but Kason was able to break through in the first half,” Coeur d’Alene coach Robbie Harmelink said. “I’m really proud of our back line for keeping a clean sheet and the guys for playing good soccer from front to back.” 

Coeur d’Alene (7-0, 5-0 IEL) travels to Sandpoint on Saturday. 

Lewiston is 0-7-2, 0-4-2.

MOSCOW — Senior Greyson Kortus scored on an assist from senior Gabe Jones in the second minute for the Timberwolves, who beat the Bears in a nonleague match at the Moscow School District Community Playfields. 

“Despite facing a significant number of injuries — six in total — our boys took control of the game and battled fiercely until the final whistle,” Lake City coach Chaz Donovan said. “Many of our players stepped up, adapting to new positions they were accustomed to, and refused to let anything deter them tonight. I’m extremely proud of this group and their response to adversity.” 

Junior Carter Boykin scored on an assist from Jacob Molina in the 58th minute for Lake City (5-1-2), which hosts Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday. 

Moscow (2-5) hosts Lakeland on Saturday.

POST FALLS — Junior defender Cade Pittman recorded a hat trick, giving him six goals in four games for the Hawks in an Inland Empire League win over the Trojans at Post Falls High. 

“Cade all of a sudden has just been playing really well,” Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. “He’s just fighting and scraping for everything and getting to the back of the net, which has been something we’ve been seeking for a while.” 

Lakeland (2-3-3, 1-2-2 IEL) travels to Moscow on Saturday. 

“Our league is super tight now,” Haynes said. “It’s a big win for us. Post Falls was outplaying us in the second half, but (Lakeland goalkeeper) Ty (Van Meeteren) did a great job. He played really well.” 

Post Falls (2-6-2, 2-5-2) hosts Coeur d’Alene Charter on Monday.

RATHDRUM — Paige Rose scored two goals for the Hawks, but the Trojans scored twice in the final six minutes for an Inland Empire League draw at Sunrise Rotary Field. 

“Post Falls was a much stronger team than the last time we played them,” said Lakeland coach Kevin Rogge, whose team beat Post Falls 6-1 on Aug. 29. “We had two calls go against us, and they capitalized.” 

Lakeland (5-2-1, 2-2-1 IEL) hosts Moscow on Saturday.
