Anthony (Tony) Bronowski, 68
Tony (Anthony) Bronowski, 68, left his earthly vessel behind Wednesday, Sept. 4. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in May 2024. He passed peacefully at home, surrounded by family. He was the seventh of eight children born to Edward (Shorty) Bronowski Sr. and Dorothy Van Slyke Bronowski at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane in September 1955.
He began his education at Logan Elementary and, after the family moved to the valley, continued his education in the East Valley School district, graduating in 1974. He continued his education at Spokane Community College. He met his future wife, Cyndie Phillips, when her sister bought the house next to his family home in 1967. He spent his following summers chasing her, throwing footballs, smoke bombs and crabapples at her. They married in November 1974 and spent nearly 50 years together.
He served in the United States Coast Guard and was part of the original crew, a plank owner, of the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Polar Sea, an icebreaker stationed at Pier 36 in Seattle, Wash. He held many jobs throughout the years, but his favorite occupation was as a Glazier, working for Coeur d’Alene Glass and later River City Glass. He loved working on older cars in his spare time and painted a few for family and friends. He retired in 2023.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ed and Dorothy, and brothers Alan, John, Stan and Ed Jr. He is survived by his wife, Cyndie, sons Dana, of Hauser, Idaho; Eric (Jessica), of Athol, Idaho; and Philip (Amanda), of Moscow, Idaho. Brothers Tim (Nancy), Ted (Mary Beth) and sister Eva (Kent), grandchildren Jason, Hailey, Cody and Andrew and great-grandson Nathan.
No funeral will be held according to Tony’s wishes. The family will be hosting a time for friends and family to reminisce Sept. 28 at Eric’s home in Athol. Contact Eric@ nova_guy77@yahoo.com.
