PREP SOCCER: Sandpoint boys play to draw with Lewiston

| September 15, 2024 1:16 AM

LEWISTON — Senior Luke Leavitt scored during the 35th minute, assisted by junior Huxley Hall, but the host Bengals scored in the second half to notch a 1-1 draw during an Inland Empire League match held Saturday at Walker Field.

Sandpoint coach Dan Anderson said the Bulldogs started slow and struggled to convert chances, which allowed Lewiston (1-5-2, 0-2-2 IEL) on the season, to hang around and tie the game.

“This was our fifth away game in a row and it was evident based on our energy levels and execution,” Anderson said. “I am looking forward to seeing a complete performance from our boys, because the potential is there, but the focus is lacking.”

Sandpoint had 16 shots compared to Lewiston’s four.

Sandpoint (3-3-2, 3-1-2 IEL) travels to Post Falls Tuesday.
