PREP ROUNDUP: Anderson, McLachlan win at Highlander Invitational

SPOKANE — Lake City senior Logan Anderson and Timberlake junior Vanessa McLachlan notched wins in the 2.5-mile Highlander Invitational at Shadle Park High.

Anderson won the boys senior race in 12 minutes, 38.40 seconds. McLachlan won the girls junior race in 15:12.30. Lake City’s Hazel Kunkel was second in the senior race in 15:13.70. Timberlake’s Caleb Royce was third in the sophomore race in 12:59.90, followed by Lake City’s Sam Reade in fourth in 13:02.60.

Lake City’s Violet Hernandez was runner-up in the freshman race in 16:26.20.

Lamanna wins at Bonners Ferry Invitational


BONNERS FERRY — Priest River High 5,000-meter record holder Brayden Lamanna continues to produce fast times, finishing first out of 29 runners at the Bonners Ferry Invitational with a time of 17 minutes and four seconds, one minute and 37 seconds ahead of second place.

Sophomore Daniel Gunkle was the second finisher for the Spartans, placing 12th with a time of 21 minutes and eight seconds.

On the girls’ side, juniors Kyla and Capri White finished in sixth and seventh, respectively, with times of 24 minutes and 27 seconds and 24 minutes and 37 seconds for the Lady Spartans. Sophomore Alannah McLaimtaig took eighth with a time of 25 minutes and 18 seconds.

Priest River will be back in action Sept. 28 when they host the Ivan Benson Invite.

shine in Kroc dual 

COEUR d’ALENE — Coeur d’Alene senior Isaac Thorpe notched wins in the 100-yard freestyle, 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay in a four-team dual that also featured Lake City, Lakeland and Kellogg/Wallace at the Kroc Center.

Lake City sophomore Tillie Sobek won in the 200 IM, 200 medley relay, 500 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay.
