| September 13, 2024 1:00 AM

Robert Emehiser joined God in Heaven on July 28, 2024, at the age of 81. Bob was born Nov. 8, 1942, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, to Julie and Dale Emehiser. He was the oldest of three boys.

Bob grew up and attended school in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He was known as a gifted athlete. The Cd'A Press called him "sensational" while playing basketball for the Coeur d'Alene Vikings. After graduating from Coeur d'Alene High School, Bob attended San Jose College, San Jose, Calif., and played basketball for the Jaguars. The local newspaper called him "Jumping Jack" Bob Emehiser.

Two years later, Bob received a basketball scholarship from the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho. He also competed in intramural sports in volleyball, baseball, pole vaulting and high jumping.

It was at the University of Idaho that Bob met the "Love of his Life" Joan Littleton. He proposed by having his fraternity serenade her sorority and give her a dozen red roses. They were married for almost 59 years.

Bob was head varsity basketball coach at Pierce High School, Pierce, Idaho, and Kellogg High School, Kellogg, Idaho. His summers were filled with playing slow pitch baseball. Bob was also head varsity basketball coach at Eldorado High School, Las Vegas, Nev.

Bob received his Master of Education at the University of Nevada, Reno. Later, he became the assistant varsity basketball coach and recruiting coordinator for UNR.

In 1978, Bob became the assistant basketball coach for the University of Idaho, Moscow, Idaho, and the director of the Boys and Girls Summer Basketball Camp.

Before retirement, Bob taught for the Carson City School District in Carson City, Nev., administering GED classes and tests at the Nevada Maximum Prison.

In 1986, a miracle happened. Bob and Joan's son, Christopher Emehiser, was born and changed their lives forever. Bob and Chris were best friends and inseparable. Bob once said, "Now I know what life is about." Their favorite things were watching wild horses, western music, picnicking, playing the game "Mario, and the Legend of the Seven Stars," and driving to the ocean to watch the sunset. Bob will always be our hero and champion.

Bob is preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Emehiser, his father, Dale Emehiser, his mother, Julie Emehiser, and his sister-in-law, Phyllis Emehiser.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Emehiser, his son, Chris Emehiser, his brother, Joe Emehiser and loving nieces and nephew.

There will be no services per Bob's wishes.
