PREP SOCCER: Lake City's Crawford tricks Sandpoint boys

COEUR d’ALENE — Sophomore Reese Crawford scored a hat trick as the host Lake City Timberwolves blanked the Sandpoint Bulldogs 5-0 in Inland Empire League play at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex. 

“For the second game in a row, the boys stepped up and executed exactly what we planned to do, dominating the game from start to finish,” Lake City coach Chaz Donovan said. “We are really starting to become a more complete team; everyone contributes and trusts each other.”  

Jacob Molina added a goal and an assist for Lake City (4-1-2, 3-1-1 IEL), which returns to action next Thursday at Moscow in a nonleague game. 

Sandpoint is 3-3-1, 3-2-0.

MOSCOW — Senior Kason Pintler had two goals and an assist for the Vikings in a nonleague win over the Bears at the Moscow School District Community Playfields.

Liam Martin and Nathan Simon also scored goals for Coeur d’Alene (6-0), which hosts Lewiston next Thursday.

“We just continued our movement from Tuesday’s match (a 6-0 win vs. Post Falls) and finished our chances,” Coeur d’Alene coach Robbie Harmelink said. “It’s always tricky coming to Moscow, but it was a really good team performance.”

Moscow (0-4) faces Post Falls on Saturday at The Fields in Post Falls.

RATHDRUM — Junior Cade Pittman scored in his second straight match for the Hawks, who played to a nonleague draw with the Badgers at Sunrise Rotary Field.

“Cade dribbled through a couple of guys and hit it from 20-yards out,” Lakeland coach Nick Haynes said. “He scored Tuesday (vs. Sandpoint) and again today, so hopefully he can keep it going. Bonners has some good players, and it was a very evenly matched game. (Lakeland’s) Asher Drake played his best game of the year and really did a good job of shutting down their scorers.”

Lakeland (0-3-3) travels to Timberlake on Monday.

Bonners Ferry (5-0-1) travels to Priest River on Friday.

“I’ve got to do a better job of preparing the team,” Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. “This one’s on me and I’ve got to do a better job of getting our kids to respond.”

Marlee McCrum scored two goals — both in the second half — for Sandpoint (4-1-1, 3-1), which hosts Lewiston on Saturday.

RATHDRUM — Junior Paige Rose recorded a hat trick for the 5A Hawks in a nonleague win over the Panthers, a perennial power in (now) 4A, at Sunrise Rotary Field.

“We moved and passed the ball really well,” Lakeland coach Kevin Rogge said. “The girls seemed to gel today and had a lot of fun. We were able to get a lot of through balls and when we found a shot on net, we were able to convert, which was great to watch.”

Lakeland (3-2) travels to Timberlake on Monday.

Coeur d’Alene Charter (3-1) faces Freeman of Rockford, Wash., on Saturday at The Fields in Post Falls.
