PREP GOLF: Lake City's Jacobson wins at Bryden Canyon; Viking teams runner-up

LEWISTON — Lake City senior Corbin Jacobson shot an even-par 71 to earn boys medalist honors at the Lewiston Invitational at Bryden Canyon Golf Course on Thursday.
"It was a great day for him," Lake City boys golf coach Kelly Reed said. "He had seven birdies, and when he can string those together, he can shoot really well. He's significantly improved since his freshman year, but in the work and is playing really well right now."
Lake City, with a 312, won the boys team title.
"We've been playing well as of late," Reed said. "We just need to continue to play like this headed into regionals. It's been fun to see some different guys step up."
Senior Brady Rubert shot a 72 for Coeur d'Alene, which finished runner-up in both the boys and girls tournament.
"We couldn't be more proud of our kids," Coeur d'Alene girls coach Jeff Lake said. "We brought our second team to a varsity tournament and each was runner-up. For many of them, this was their first varsity experience."
Sandpoint senior Alexa Tuinstra shot a 2-over 73 for girls medalist, leading the Bulldogs to the girls team title.
Coeur d'Alene, Lake City, Sandpoint and Rocky Mountain of Meridian will compete in the Dizzy Bird Invitational at Circling Raven Golf Club on Tuesday in Worley.
