Holly Elizabeth Dunn, 59

| September 13, 2024 1:00 AM

Holly Elizabeth Dunn (Gregg), beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Sept. 2, 2024, in Spokane, Wash., at the age of 59. Born on Dec. 15, 1964, in Wallace, Idaho, Holly's life was a testament to love, compassion and creativity.

Holly dedicated eight years to shaping young minds as a kindergarten and music teacher at McDermitt, Nev. Fondly known as Ms. Dunn, she took pride in orchestrating music programs and embraced the culture of the Paiute and Yupik tribes during her teaching years in Nevada and Tuluksak, Alaska. Holly’s students became like family, and her career was marked by numerous awards and cherished memories of powwows, dog mushing and other cultural experiences.

Holly’s warmth extended far beyond the classroom. Her playful spirit shone through in her love for game nights and karaoke, where her enthusiasm brought joy to everyone around her. Her true pride, however, was her family. She cherished her children, Kevin Dunn and Heather Rayne, and adored her grandchildren, Serenity and Pax Rayne.

She is survived by the love of her life, Donald Fletschinger, her children, grandchildren and her sisters: Karen Hegbloom, Lana Lindberg, Julie Gregg, Joyce Benjamin and DeeDee Newell. Holly also leaves behind countless friends, former students and the Dunn family, who will all miss her deeply.

Holly is reunited with her parents, Norma Faye Carter and Henry Alvin Gregg, and her brother, Patrick Lindberg. A celebration of life will be held Sept. 21, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Morning Club in Mullan, Idaho. Holly’s kindness and joyful spirit will live on in all who knew her.
