Emerge's INK! Print Rally returns Saturday

| September 13, 2024 1:07 AM

Emerge will host its eighth annual INK! Print Rally in the street in front of its downtown Coeur d’Alene gallery, 119 N. Second St., from 1 to 7 p.m. Saturday.

Guests will enjoy interactive printmaking booths with activities for all ages, local artisans and makers, live music, food trucks and a beer garden.

In the center of the parking lot, large-scale prints will be created using 5-by-4-foot carved wood panels, an asphalt roller and fabric. In addition to dozens of local and regional artists, Emerge's outreach extends to six regional colleges and universities, local businesses and community-based organizations.

The showcased prints will reflect the process of steamrolling panels of carved wood: bearing stress upon fabric, ink and wood to create a piece of art that speaks of the artist, the context and the process.

This year's theme is "Dichotomy." The 2023 INK! Print Rally attracted more than 2,500 community members.

It is the mission of Emerge, a nonprofit collective arts experience, to provide free and affordable arts education to youth and adults in our community. The funds raised during Print Rally will be used to maintain printmaking equipment for the Emerge classroom, offer scholarships and provide resources to underwrite diverse art education for the community.

Participating artists include Jen Erickson, Carl Richardson, Jill McFarlane, Basil X, Bethany Phillips, Brian Achenbaugh, K.Rad, Kendra Marquardt, Kevin Haas, Madeline E. Goolie, Sarah Windisch, Terren Weirick, Thom Caraway and Pixie Carlson.
