Dixie Lee Ryen, 86

Dixie Lee Ryen, 86, of Coeur d'Alene, passed away in her home Aug. 28. She was born in Coeur d'Alene on March 28, 1938.

Dixie was raised in Coeur d'Alene and attended Coeur d'Alene High School. She worked at Borah Elementary School as the school's librarian. She also worked at several local hotels. She loved to knit, sew and crochet several items, such as tablecloths, slippers and dolls for family and friends.

Dixie was a tremendous supporter of her kids' activities. She loved attending Joyce's band concert, and Jerry and Jeff's softball games were a must for her to watch.

She is survived by her daughter, Joyce Crawford, and son Jerry Ryen, grandson CJ Crawford (Savannah), granddaughter Julie Crawford, grandchildren Jaedin Crawford, Cameron Crawford, Keaton and Kaden Crawford, daughter-in-law Jo West and many cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ryen, son Jeff Ryen, mother Blanche Walker and brothers Jack Schaffer, Larry Schaffer and Tom Schaffer. Her father-in-law was Erling Ryen, and her mother-in-law was Mertle Ryen. Brothers-in-law Chet Ryen, Wayne Ryen and Marvin Ryen.
