COEUR d'ALENE — Panhandle Health District's Suicide Prevent Action Network of North Idaho will host its annual suicide prevention and awareness 5K on Saturday at Riverstone Park.

The event is in remembrance of those lost to suicide, supports those who have lost someone to suicide, reduces stigma associated with mental health and connects community members to local resources, according to a press release.

Registration is free and begins at 8:30 a.m. The run starts at 10 a.m. Commemorative shirts, socks and dedication signs will be available for purchase.

Local mental health organizations will be in attendance. There will be live music, refreshments and opportunities to honor loved ones lost to suicide.

“We are spreading hope and understanding, breaking down the stigmas that often surround mental health,” said Valerie Phillips, Suicide Prevention and Youth Education Specialist at Panhandle Health District.
