Saturday morning, the Sting lost 5-3 to the Spokane Sounders Shadow Juniors B2016 Van Der Lawson Valley team. Sting goals were scored by Elijah Cline (1), Gideon Lee (1) and Jaxson Matheney (1). Saturday evening, the Sting beat the Sandpoint Strikers FC 2016B Black team 5-0, with goals scored by Elijah Cline (3), Hudson Helbling (1) and Isaak Sterling (1). Sunday morning, the Sting fell 11-1 to the Glacier Surf Soccer Club 2016 Boys Blue team. The Sting goal was scored by Isaak Sterling. On Saturday morning, the Sting beat the Spokane Sounders Shadow Basel Valley 8-1. Sting Black goals were scored by Lincoln Treibwasser, Kellen McLemore, Jackson Martin and Peter Ward. Saturday afternoon, the Sting tied the BVBIA CDA Black 5-5. Black goals were scored by Jackson Martin and Eli Hocking. Sunday morning, the Sting fell 5-3 to the BVBIA CDA Black in the semifinals.     Photo by KARI HYNES The Sting Soccer Club 11 girls Academy team returned to the field last weekend to start their DPL season, defeating the Central Washington Sounders G11 DPL Strom 4-2. Brightyn Gatten started the game off with a goal in the first 10 minutes. This goal was quickly followed up with a goal from Aubrey Sargent on an assist from Olivia Hynes. The Sting finished the game with two additional goals in the second half — Presley Moreau had a breakaway goal and MacKenzie Dolan scored on an assist from Aubrey Sargent.     Courtesy photo The Sting 11 girls finished second in their division at the Pend Oreille Cup last weekend in Sandpoint. The Sting beat the Spokane Shadow G11 Samba 1-0 on a goal by Brinley Plumb. On Saturday morning the Sting beat Flathead Valley United SC 4-0. Elle Sousley scored two goals and Kylie Lorona and Gracie McVey each scored once. On Sunday morning the Sting beat the Glacier Surf in the semifinals. Constance Ovendale scored in regulation and the game, tied 1-1, moved to a shootout, where Elle Sousley, Gracie McVey and Kylie Lorona scored for the Sting. Halley Viaud was the goalie for the Sting during the game and the shootout. The Sting fell 4-0 to Helena in the championship game.
