1. Prairie Crossing shopping center in the works

The future of the intersection of Highway 41 and Prairie Avenue Is focused on shopping.  

A site review through the city of Post Falls was released Friday concerning Prairie Crossing, a shopping and mixed-use parcel of about 50 acres. 

The city has a pending site plan for a McDonald’s on West Prairie Avenue and a retail shell building along Highway 41. 

2. Annual S.A.V.E. walk is Friday

For 10 years, the Shoshone County Support Action Volunteerism Education Coalition has been working toward improving mental awareness, suicide prevention, crisis management and abuse prevention.  

S.A.V.E. will host its 10th annual Suicide Prevention and Awareness Walk. at 5 p.m. Friday at Kellogg City Park during National Suicide Prevention Month.

President Tara Lodi said the walk is a way to show support for those affected by suicide.

“This is a hard topic to address, and can elicit a lot of emotion, but it’s important to help people feel comfortable talking about it," Lodi said. "We all know someone who has been lost to suicide and it’s important to come together to feel the support of the community and hold each other up in a time of need.”  

3. 9/11 memorial events slated Wednesday

Two 9/11 memorial events are scheduled Wednesday in Coeur d'Alene.

The Kootenai County Sheriff's Office is hosting a ceremony at 11 a.m. at Black Sheep Sporting Goods at the Silver Lake Mall.

The Coeur d'Alene Fire Department's Honor Guard will be doing a short flag-lowering ceremony at Heroes Plaza Memorial at Cherry Hill Park at 10 a.m.
