A very 'Special' 40 years
Specialized Needs Recreation's 40th anniversary celebration, "Rubies and Wranglers," is scheduled for 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19 at the Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn.
This event will feature food, drink, music, silent and live auctions with vacation packages, raffles, a custom-made diamond and ruby pendant created in the theme of the event, and other festivities "that will celebrate all the wonderful things that SNR brings to our community," a press release said.
“For 40 years, specialized needs recreation, has created a joyful and safe place for disabled members of our community to come enjoy a myriad of activities, and make new friends,” said Sue Bartholomew, SNR board president. "We invite everyone in the community to come share in this anniversary celebration."
The mission of the nonprofit is to enrich the lives of participants with special needs through recreation and socialization to enhance personal growth. Their vision is to champion an independent and joyful life, creating a connected community for all, the release said.
SNR meets its mission daily by providing activities, such as golf, bowling, shopping, cooking, summer camps and life groups.
"Participants spend time with peers and learn important communication and life skills, in a place where they are accepted, supported and celebrated," the release said.
Tickets are $100.
