| September 6, 2024 1:15 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Weber State commit Ziya Munyer totaled 24 kills, four blocks and four aces as the Lakeland Hawks powered past the Lake City Timberwolves 28-26, 21-25, 25-19, 25-21 in an Inland Empire League match Thursday night at Lake City High.

“Ziya was a dominant force at the net,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “Her tough blocking shut down several key attacks, and her quick transitions into offense were instrumental. She delivered powerful kills that fired up the team, keeping the momentum on our side.”

Olivia Zazuetta added 47 assists for Lakeland (2-1, 1-1 IEL).

“Liv stood out with her smart and strategic playmaking,” Badger said. “She consistently set up her hitters with precision, keeping Lake City blockers guessing. Her ability to vary the offense and make quick decisions was crucial.”

Alyssa Ryckman had 10 digs and three aces for the Hawks, and Addy Jo Hocking had 17 digs.

“Our defense played scrappy and both Addy and Alyssa were able to make plays on some tough hits,” Badger said. “I’m very proud of the team tonight and their performance.”
