PREP GOLF: Viking freshmen lead the way at Moscow invite

MOSCOW — Coeur d’Alene freshman Ben Focke shot a 1-under-par 71 to earn medalist honors at the Moscow Invitational on Thursday at the University of Idaho Golf Course.

Coeur d’Alene freshman Ella Wilson shot an even-par 72 to earn girls medalist honors.

Coeur d’Alene swept the team titles.

“It was super hot today down on the Palouse, and our kids did an awesome job playing through the conditions,” Coeur d’Alene girls golf coach Jeff Lake said. “Our kids were amazing from tee to green, but we missed a few putts here and there we normally drain. We’ll look to focus on cleaning up our game on and around the greens before next Tuesday.”

Coeur d’Alene travels to the Mike McCready Memorial at Jug Mountain Ranch in McCall on Tuesday.

Lake City, Post Falls and Lakeland will compete in the Lewiston Invitational next Thursday at Bryden Canyon Golf Course.
