Music Conservatory of Coeur d'Alene to host Oktoberfest fundraiser Sept. 21

| September 6, 2024 1:00 AM

The Music Conservatory of Coeur d'Alene will welcome fall with its third annual Autumn Affair fundraiser from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 21.

Alphorns, a brass band, a youth choir and a strolling accordion will add to the festive flair. The sounds and tastes of Bavaria will abound at this celebration on the conservatory lawn, which will serve as a benefit for the music-centric nonprofit.

Autumn Affair fare will include grilled bratwursts, potato salad and sauerkraut as well as an adults-only beer garden for attendees 21 and older.

“For those who cannot make the trip across the pond to experience Oktoberfest in Germany, we will continue to create a similar, family-friendly cultural celebration right here in Coeur d’Alene,” Music Conservatory of Coeur d'Alene Executive Director Cynthia Newkirk said in a Wednesday news release.

Faculty, students and guest artists of the conservatory will perform instrumentals and vocals during the event.

The lineup includes performances by local band CDA BrassX5, alphorns from Spokane, the conservatory's youth choir as well as the strolling accordionist.

The fundraiser will include a silent auction. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit’s general fund.

The Music Conservatory of Coeur d’Alene is dedicated to musical excellence through accessible instruction, collaborative partnerships and performance. It offers private lessons and group classes on a variety of instruments and vocals, beginning with early childhood development, through beginning levels of instruction on piano, guitar, ukulele, violin and singing and progressing to more advanced instruction in music theory, composition and ensemble performance.

Faculty are professional musicians who mentor students through the progressive stages of their musical education journey providing instruction, guidance, feedback and encouragement. As part of the experience, students perform at recitals for families and friends to gain confidence in front of a live audience. The conservatory’s faculty, students and its youth choir perform at concerts and community events throughout the year. Its music therapy team extends its reach to provide music education and experience for physical and mental health.

Autumn Affair tickets are $35 for adults, $10 for youths younger than 18 and $75 per family.
