CDA: Election signs are allowed

| September 6, 2024 1:00 AM

You, the Idaho registered voter.

Many Citizens of Coeur d’Alene have expressed an interest in placing a Yes On Prop 1 Yard Sign in their yard, but expressed that their HOA does not allow signs. This is misinformation. Political Signage is protected within the City of Cd’A. See ordinance below. “IF YOU WOULD LIKE A PROP 1 YARD FREE OF CHARGE” Please go to the website YesForOpenprimaries.com and request yours. There is an ordinance, however, that particularly pertains to political signage. That ordinance — 15.24.270-C of the Coeur d’Alene City Code — states the following: “Political signs may be erected for sixty (60) days prior to the decision in which such candidates or issues are to be decided upon. Such signs shall be removed not later than the fourth day following such election. Any such signs which have not been removed by the fifth day following such a decision may be removed by the city’s building official.”

Additionally, promotional signs or materials cannot be placed on public or private property without permission. This is law under Idaho Code 18-7029.
