Applications opening soon for Kootenai Health, ISU accelerated nursing program

| September 5, 2024 1:00 AM

Kootenai Health and Idaho State University are preparing for the next cohort of students in their joint Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing undergraduate program, according to a joint press release.

The program allows students with a bachelor's degree in any discipline to receive accelerated education and training to become a nurse. Students receive their Bachelor of Science in nursing in one year through completing the program.

With the application opening soon, ISU undergraduate program manager Kim Gratiot wants to remind prospective students that they must schedule an appointment with an ISU academic advisor before applying in order to see if any prerequisite classes are required before beginning the program.

“Sometimes knowing where to start can feel like a challenge,” said Gratiot. “We make it easy. This time of year, before we open program enrollment, is a great time to reach out."

Open enrollment for the program begins November 15 and will close on February 15, 2025 — those interested in applying should schedule an advising appointment now in order to ensure they are ready to apply before the deadline.

“Most people interested in the program will have two or three classes they need to complete before applying to the program,” Gratiot said. “It is usually fairly easy for people to complete these while they continue to work, and it helps them to be academically prepared for the accelerated program.”

The next cohort of students will be selected from the applicant pool in March, and classes are set to begin in May 2025.
