PREP VOLLEYBALL: Coeur d'Alene tops Post Falls in four

COEUR d’ALENE —Senior Paisley Goings had eight kills, 11 digs and three blocks as the Coeur d’Alene Vikings overcame a slow start to beat the Post Falls Trojans 21-25, 25-9, 25-12, 25-17 in Inland Empire League play Tuesday night at Viking Court. 

Bridget Maiani had 19 digs and two aces for Coeur d’Alene (11-0, 3-0 IEL). Gianna Callari had eight kills, Aiva Reed five blocks, Lizzy Hardy 21 assists, Bevin Green nine assists for the Vikings. 

“I don’t think we had any rhythm in our ball control,” Coeur d’Alene coach Carly Curtis said of the first set. “So we did a little reset. We got back to serving tough, got back to ball control, and got dialed back in.”

Senior Vanessa Kison had eight kills, 11 digs and two blocks for Post Falls (1-2) in its league opener. Lucy Carr had 11 assists and three aces for the Trojans, Lexi Norisada 16 digs, Summer Dan five kills, Zuri Blood four assists, Kaela Gump two blocks. 

“Post Falls did a good job playing defense, and getting balls back at us,” Curtis said of the first set. 

On Thursday, Coeur d’Alene travels to Sandpoint for a nonleague match, and Post Falls travels to Shadle Park. 


Lake City d. 

Lewiston 

COEUR d’ALENE — Kate Moglia had 22 assists and eight digs as the host 6A Timberwolves swept the now-5A Bengals 25-21, 25-16, 25-20 in IEL play. 

Jessalyn Wilson had nine kills and nine digs for Lake City (2-0, 1-0 IEL). Camryn Woodman had five kills, two blocks and two aces, Daphne Neeley seven kills and five digs, Lola Jeanselme 12 digs and two aces. 

“Really pleased with how things came together for us tonight,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinert said. “We stayed focused on the game plan and the girls were extremely receptive to mid-game adjustments. This team is a special group to coach.” 

It was the season opener for Lewiston. 

Lake City plays host to Lakeland on Thursday in an IEL match. 


Kellogg d. 

Timberlake 

KELLOGG — Dani Hendrikson had 17 kills and four blocks as the host Wildcats improved to 6-1 with the 25-15, 13-25, 25-14, 19-25, 15-12 victory over the Tigers in nonleague play. 

“Dani was just pretty consistent across the board,” Kellogg coach Stephanie Batchelder said. “She played really well and worked hard at the net for sure.” 

Ella Yrjana had 32 assists and two aces, Paige Yrjana 28 digs and Ragen Oertli two aces for Kellogg, which hosts St. Maries on Thursday in a Central Idaho League match. 

Freshman Addie Archer had 38 digs, nine aces and seven kills for Timberlake. Amarijana Olivieri added 10 kills, Sophia Soumas 18 assists, Mya Reynoldson seven kills and six blocks, Shae Jones four blocks and four kills, Isabelle Torr 28 digs for the Tigers. 

Timberlake is home vs. Genesis Prep on Thursday. 


Kootenai d. 

Genesis Prep JV 

POST FALLS — After going winless for the past five years, the visiting Warriors were triumphant for the second time in six days, beating the Jaguars junior varsity 25-15, 26-24, 25-23 at The Courts at Real Life. 

Junior Chloe Dorman led in kills, digs and blocks for Kootenai (2-1), and freshman Brooklyn Charles led the way serving. 

Kootenai plays host to Wallace on Thursday.

Clark Fork 

WALLACE — The host Miners swept the Wampus Cats 25-19, 25-15, 25-18 in Scenic Idaho Conference play at Kirby Krulitz Court. 

No other information was reported. 

Wallace (1-1, 1-1 SIC) travels to Kootenai on Thursday. 

Clark Fork is 0-3, 0-2. 


Lakeside JV d. 

Mullan 

MULLAN — Izzy Kee had 10 assists and two kills as the visiting Knights junior varsity downed the Tigers 25-9, 25-18, 25-20 at the Mullan Pavilion. 

Paola Lozon had five aces, four kills and three digs for the Lakeside JV. Alayla Matheson had three kills and three aces, Sadie Leo three digs. 

“Izzy was a huge hustler for our team tonight; she helped make some great plays,” Lakeside JV coach Corin Peone said. “Alayla had some great passes in the back row and made some great plays at the net. Sadie Leo came in at all angles tonight, playing a part in each spot on the court. Paola was my strongest server tonight, and also played a huge role at the net.” 

Lakeside’s varsity is scheduled to play Genesis Prep on Saturday in a Scenic Idaho Conference match at The Courts at Real Life in Post Falls.
