1. Fire destroys Wolf Lodge Steakhouse near Coeur d'Alene

The Wolf Lodge Steakhouse, an iconic restaurant that dates back decades, was destroyed in a fire Monday.

At least 10 fire departments and agencies responded to the three-alarm blaze that broke out about noon on Frontage Road, 8 miles east of Coeur d’Alene.

2. Servers, cooks devastated after Coeur d'Alene restaurant burns down

When Cory Parker pulled up at the Wolf Lodge Steakhouse early Monday afternoon, the roof was on fire.

The place he had worked at and called home for nearly 32 years was going up in flames.

He couldn’t believe it.

“I’m still in shock,” Parker said as he stood with fellow Wolf Lodge employees on Frontage Road as they waited for the OK to return to the restaurant.

3. Fall prescribed burning to begin across forests

Favorable conditions for prescribed burning are forecast over the coming weeks, according to Idaho Panhandle National Forests officials.

Multiple prescribed burning projects are planned this fall, although those dates will depend upon conditions aligning with safe implementation. IPNF officials said prescribed burning is among each ranger district’s annual natural resource management programs to reduce hazardous fuels, prepare areas for tree planting and improve wildlife forage.
