COEUR d'ALENE — Science experiments got a spooky twist last week at Fernan STEM Academy.

Over 300 people attended Fernan STEM Academy's Spooky STEM Night on Thursday, which aimed to get kids and their families excited about science and related fields through activities and experiments.

Activities included designing catapults to launch pumpkins, building spider web bridges, creating skeleton hands and building candy corn towers. Students were also invited to dress up in their Halloween best to add to the festivities.

"We love to involve our Fernan families in discovery through STEM activities like this," said Sandy Doering, the vice principal of Fernan STEM Academy.
