PROP 1: Two issues mixed together
California has an open primary system. We lived there for a time and got to see how it really works.
The Democrat party is very strong in CA. To hang on to power there, this year the Democrats are running ads endorsing the Republican candidates they consider to be their weakest competition. Some of them won. The two-party system is based on the right of each party to put forth its best candidate. The party in power there is deliberately undercutting this right. We should allow this to happen here.
The fact that some people choose not to belong to either party should not be an excuse to adopt the flawed voting system contained in Prop. 1.
Adding ranked choice voting is a question in itself, and should not be mixed up (sneaked through?) with other issues. Prop 1 deserves a NO vote.
