'Wolf Lodge 2.0' could be coming

| October 25, 2024 11:00 AM

The Wolf Lodge Steakhouse may be cooking up a new version of itself.

A "2.0" version of the historic restaurant and bar destroyed in a fire on Labor Day is being considered, according to a Facebook post from "owner, management and staff."

But first, there is much to do.

"We would like to first off say Thank You for all your support during this tragic event, it has been a blessing to know so many people care," the post read. "This note is NOT saying we are rebuilding but we are looking into building Wolf Lodge 2.0. We have a lot of red tape to go through and to do so we are looking for some help. Wolf Lodge is currently looking for a local survey crew for flood zone certs and property survey, and we are also looking for an architect to help us through these tough times. If you know anyone that could help and maybe donate some time to help us please let us know. You can contact us at info@wolflodgesteakhouse.com."

The note ends with a hopeful comment: "LETS MAKE GREAT STEAK AGAIN."

Comments in reaction to the post were enthusiastic.

"I love your attitude. There’s something in some of your comments that are very patriotic. This is a great thing. I will share it. I hope everything goes smoothly for you." - Bobbi Mesarchik

"Can’t wait till you are open again! It may not be the same with all the history, but it will be a new beginning, and I know people will be finding and bringing some old things to replace what was destroyed! Good luck! Best steaks I’ve ever had!!! Also the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever had-yum!" - Bonnie Buchanan

"Your vision leaves me feeling encouraged. After the preliminaries, you may want to consider reaching out to a wider audience of volunteers who have the skill sets to assist in reestablishing this iconic business. I'm sure people would feel honored to pitch in." - Bill Harriman

The Idaho State Fire Marshal’s Office said in September that grease accumulation was the cause of the fire that destroyed the iconic steakhouse located 8 miles east of Coeur d'Alene. After serving as a convenience store since 1939, a tavern was added in the 1970s and a steakhouse in the 1980s. It has served customers from across the nation.

Two GoFundMe accounts to help displaced employees have raised more than $40,000.
