3 hurt in head-on collision

Three people were injured in a head-on collision in Athol on Wednesday night.

According to the Idaho State Police, the driver of a Hyundai Santa Fe was southbound on U.S. 95 near milepost 447 and crossed the center median, colliding with a northbound Toyota Avalon.

The Hyundai was driven by a 78-year-old Coeur d’Alene woman, who was transported to a hospital by ground ambulance, ISP said. The Toyota was driven by a 37-year-old woman and her 13-year-old daughter from Cocolalla. 

The 37-year-old driver was transported by ground ambulance and the girl was transported by Life Flight. Occupants of both vehicles were wearing seatbelts, ISP said.

The highway was blocked for nearly three hours.

An investigation continues.
