Cathy Lynn Sebby, 72
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Cathy Lynn Sebby. With daughters Lisa and Diane and husband Jerry at her side, she passed away peacefully at home Oct. 15, 2024, after a four-year battle with cancer.
Cathy was born in Burbank, Calif., on Oct. 10, 1952, to Robert and Glenda (Rutan) Hollister. She grew up in Van Nuys, Calif., and graduated from Birmingham High School. Cathy had two daughters, Lisa and Diane, with her first husband, Richard Learmonth. In 1985, she married Gerald (Jerry) Sebby.
Cathy’s first job was with the phone company as a long-distance operator. Cathy studied interior design in college and worked for an interior design firm in San Diego. She left the interior design business to work with Jerry in his business after they were married. She retired from their business, KRC Rock, Inc., in 2010. In 2006, Cathy and Jerry moved from Southern California into the new home they built in Harrison, Idaho.
Cathy loved to sing and dance and enjoyed drawing and painting. She called her art studio at home her “Happy Place.” She especially enjoyed sharing her artistic talents with her grandchildren. Cooking was also a creative outlet, and she enjoyed experimenting with new recipes. Cathy loved pets and had many dogs and cats through the years.
Cathy and Jerry traveled often, taking trips to Europe, Hawaii, Alaska and many of the lower 48 states. After retirement the couple acquired a travel trailer and made many great memories of off-roading and sitting around a campfire with friends.
Cathy is survived by her husband, Jerry, of Harrison, Idaho; daughter Lisa Rababy and her husband, Brent; and their two daughters, Corrin and Myah, of Carlsbad, Calif.; her daughter, Diane Learmonth (Carlsbad); and her three children: son Zakkaiah (Honolulu, Hawaii); son Tyjah; and daughter Naiym of Carlsbad; Cathy’s brother, Thomas Hollister of Trinity Center, Calif.; and brother James Hollister; and his wife, Sandy Hollister of Carnation, Wash.
A memorial service for Cathy will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2024, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel (744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, Idaho).
