New Community Library Network trustee resigns
POST FALLS — The Community Library Network announced Tuesday afternoon that Trustee Karen Campbell has resigned her position, effective immediately.
Campbell said in a press release that she is resigning because her new address is not within the CLN district.
"I was not expecting to move until recently notified as renters that the owners were going to move back in. Because of the current housing market, we bought a home that meets our needs in an area outside of the CLN district," Campbell wrote in the announcement.
Chair Rachelle Ottosen stated in an email that according to the state statute, the CLN board must announce the vacancy within 30 days and replace the trustee within 60 days.
In an emailed response, Trustee Tim Plass noted that the bylaws for the CLN board don't contain a specific process for replacing a trustee, so the board defaults to the process in Roberts Rules. Each board member may nominate a single candidate and the majority winner is appointed the replacement board member.
Campbell became a trustee June 27 following a 3-1. She filled a vacancy left by longtime Trustee Katie Blank, who resigned June 16.
"I am saddened that this new home address disqualifies me as CLN Library Trustee. It truly has been an honor and joy to serve alongside the Trustees and Director in the CLN community,” Campbell wrote.
