BUS SERVICE: Citylink is essential

| October 20, 2024 1:00 AM

I am writing in support of Citylink public transit. This is a necessary service for many in our community. I have been using it and training young adults with disabilities on how to use Citylink for 15 years. Citylink is a vital service to so many. Without this service, many people without the ability to drive would not be able to get to work, go shopping, go to medical appointments, college or hang out with friends. I know that I can depend on Citylink to get me to work if my car does not start.

County Commissioner Bruce Mattare seems to think that since this is not a state-mandated service that maybe it should not be provided. Public transit is a necessity. Citylink provides ADA compliant, free, safe, reliable transportation to Coeur d’Alene, Hayden and Post Falls. I plan to meet with Commissioner Mattare at “The Future of Transit Public-Transportation Town Hall” on Oct. 23 from 6-7 p.m. at the Kootenai County Administration Building — Meeting Room 1A/1B, 451 N. Government Way, Coeur d’Alene. I hope others who support public transit will be there. Citylink services are needed in our community.
