FIRE LEVY: Vote yes

A recent letter asks if a NO vote on the proposed override levy for Northern Lakes Fire District will drastically reduce the protection of one’s home. When one understands that timely 24/7 emergency services provided by a Fire Dept is directly related to adequate staffing, then the unequivocal short answer is YES. Population growth and other societal factors mean that Northern Lakes Fire Dept, like many Depts across our region, face an increasing call volume every year. And those calls aren’t restricted to one’s home, nor do they only occur when something is on fire. They also occur on highways, in businesses, and throughout the area. A response may not even involve you, but it will be to help a family member, a friend, a neighbor, a community member, or an individual passing through or visiting our area. Vote YES on this essential service.
