| October 16, 2024 1:00 AM

Wanda Lee Schrader, aged 85, passed away Oct. 9, 2024, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Born on Aug. 3, 1939, Wanda was known for her outgoing and fun-loving nature, easily making friends wherever she went. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, friend and a cherished member of her community.

Wanda graduated from Wallace High School in 1957 and pursued further education in nursing school in 1959. She dedicated many years of service to healthcare, retiring from Lacrosse Nursing Home in 1990. Her commitment to caring for others was evident both in her professional and personal life, often taking others under her roof and always having an extra plate at the table when needed.

In her personal life, Wanda was an avid fan of Western shows and read many, many books. She had a passion for 4-H and animals. She enjoyed camping and cooking, and nothing brought her more joy than spoiling her grandchildren. Wanda's life was marked by her two significant marriages: first to William Abey in 1958, with whom she had two children, and later to Delbert Schrader in 1962, with whom she had four children and was happily married for almost 62 years.

She is survived by her husband, Delbert Schrader; daughter Debra (Michael) McGee; sons Rodney (Holly) Abey, Carl Abey, James (Lori) Schrader, Ricky (Colleen) Schrader and Bradley (Brandi) Schrader; brother Lane Schuetz; half-sister Marge Beck; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carolyn and Arthur Schuetz.

Wanda's life was a testament to her spirited personality and her capacity for making lasting connections with those around her. She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her.

A celebration of life will be held at the Kootenai County Fairgrounds on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at noon.
