| October 16, 2024 1:00 AM

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Eugene Lane, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who passed away Oct. 3, 2024, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.

Born on Aug. 25, 1933, in Pullman, Wash., to Robert Lee and Pearl (Tate) Lane, Bob was the eldest of five children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Beverly and Sharon; his loving wife, Tina, of 62 years; and his son, Bill.

Bob is survived by his sister, Connie, and his brother, Tony; he also leaves behind his son, Bob Jr., and wife Nancy; his daughter, Debbie, and husband Jeff; and his daughter, Teresa, and husband Mike. Bob was a proud grandfather to 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

A talented mechanic, Bob had the natural ability to repair and operate all kinds of vehicles and equipment. His love for the outdoors and passion for the woods began early in life, at the age of 13, when he would accompany his father and learn the ropes of the logging industry. Bob became an expert in every aspect of the trade — sawing, loading, hauling — and eventually owned and operated his own trucking company for many years. Above all, Bob cherished his family and friends, and his wisdom, stories and love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

A celebration of his life will be held in the summer of 2025. Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with the care of arrangements.
