| October 16, 2024 1:15 AM

RATHDRUM — Seniors Landree Simon, Ziya Munyer, Olivia Zazuetta and Addy Jo Hocking led the way on senior night as the Lakeland Hawks swept the Lake City Timberwolves 25-13, 25-11, 25-13 in nonleague play Tuesday night at Hawk Court.

Simon had 11 kills, Munyer nine kills and five blocks, Zazuetta 34 assists and five aces, Hocking 19 digs and four aces for Lakeland (17-10).

Junior Alyssa Ryckman added 10 kills for the Hawks.

“It was an unforgettable senior night for our five seniors,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “Our seniors led the way and stepped up in a big way, with Liv and Addy Jo dominating the service line, each delivering a series of crucial aces that kept the momentum on our side.

Landree showcased tonight with her kills, and Ziya added to the team’s dynamic attack. Defensively, Addy Jo anchored the back row and frustrated the opposing offense all night. Liv had another outstanding night. (Senior) Lexi Levesque’s energy, blocks and key kills kept the intensity on our side."

For Lake City (17-11), Emmery Fuller had four kills, Kate Moglia 11 assists and six digs, Lola Jeanselme 11 digs, Josie Hocking two blocks.

"Hats off to Lakeland for bringing it on their senior night — the energy was radiating on their side of the net,” Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg said. “We are responsible for the heartbeat on our side of the net and we didn’t bring that tonight. A good lesson learned ahead of our rematch against Post Falls on Thursday. We’ll be right back at it tomorrow in practice and ready to perform next time we take the floor.”

Lakeland wraps up the regular season Thursday at Moscow in Inland Empire League play.

Second-seeded Lake City plays host to third-seeded Post Falls on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the loser-out first round of the 6A District 1 tournament.
