Anthony Haler had a goal and an assist, and Owen Sharp added two assists as the Panthers beat the Spartans (7-8-1) in a semifinal game.

“Pretty dominant performance by our boys,” Cd’A Charter coach Craig Daigle said. “We moved the ball around fairly easily today. We were able to get a lot of our starters some rest for tomorrow. Anthony Haler had a big game for us today. We will need a complete game to be competitive tomorrow against a dominant Bonners Ferry team.”

Bonners Ferry defeated third-seeded Grangeville (5-5-4) in the other semifinal.

Bonners Ferry is the defending district champion. Timberlake won the district title in 2022.

On Monday, Priest River beat Orofino 1-0 in the first round for the Spartans’ first-ever district tournament win. Priest River started its boys and girls soccer programs in 2012.

Lydia Lehosit and Mallory Judd each scored twice as the Panthers beat the fourth-seeded Bulldogs (6-6-1) in a semifinal.

“I'm pleased with how the girls moved the ball,” Charter coach Stacy Smith said. “We were able to get ourselves in some great scoring positions and find success in the back of the net. With our keeper still out, Claire (Leahy) and a few of her teammates stepped up to fill the role as we played keeper by committee. I'm very proud of them. We've been battling through some injury and sore bodies, so putting six goals away and having none against was a big boost of confidence for the girls.”

In the other semifinal, Bonners Ferry upended second-seeded Timberlake (10-3-2).

Cd’A Charter has won eight straight district titles. Bonners Ferry last won districts in 2008.

“We know that tomorrow's championship game against Bonners will be a tough one as they've been playing well, especially lately,” Smith said. But, anytime you get to play for a trophy is a great day. We're ready for it.”
