Helpers: Shane Greenfield
The flexibility of hours within the real estate field offers Shane Greenfield time to pitch in and volunteer during the work week when the occasion calls for it.
When Greenfield connected with The Press to talk about his Helpers nomination, he was on his way to pour concrete for a greenhouse project for Ramsey Magnet School.
Nominator Kristin Linville Ludwig said Greenfield has been a part of The Coeur Group for almost a decade and is “the driving force behind the Shoe Guy” volunteers for the Wine, Women, and Shoes event.
She lauded his work recruiting male volunteers for the annual fundraiser, which benefits the Idaho Youth Ranch.
Greenfield also helps with various CASA events, leads the Duck Derby fundraiser as well as lending his tech skills and helps run peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns for nonprofits with a lot of moving pieces.
Ludwig recounted that he had also helped with the Drug Free Youth lip sync, Special Needs Recreation and is deeply involved in the Coeur Group's efforts to build and stock closets for elementary schools in School District 271.
He originally joined the Coeur Group because it was a way to spend time with the guys and do good in the community.
Having grown up in a situation where money was tight, he relates and values the ability to get necessary supplies to kids so that they can be comfortable and have what they need, whether it’s undergarments, toothpaste or socks.
“It’s a really good feeling to be a part of a solution helping with a part of the problem,” Greenfield said. “People need to look at the community as a big picture and I’m hoping more people take more responsibility in their community and help.”
