ENDORSEMENT: Vote yes on Coeur d’Alene school levy

| October 13, 2024 1:00 AM

As longtime CDA residents and active members of this community, we plead with you to vote YES for schools on November 5th.

The state doesn’t fully fund the quality of education the community of CDA desires. We want advanced courses, sports, art, drama, technology, police officers, and nurses. The state funds zero of that. Those are extras in their eyes. We also want teachers to have adequate resources and reasonable class sizes.

If you don’t believe us, read what our youngest granddaughter, Kerrie, had to say about her Canfield Middle School experiences.

In elementary school, I dreaded math class. I hated math and had the worst attitude about it. That all changed when I had Mrs. Adam in 6th grade! She changed the way I thought about math. She had lots of different hands-on activities that made it exciting to come to math each day!

My math teacher in 7th grade was Mrs. Schaller, and I loved her class, too! We always had lots of ways to study for tests, notes, and entry tasks to ensure that we were successful on every test. She really tried to get to know us every week and was always helpful when I needed it!

This year I have Mrs. Pemberton (I call her Dr. P), and she always thinks about what everybody needs and how to incorporate the ways we learn so that we can do our best. Her class has a calm environment, and she makes time for lots of practice so that we don’t get stressed out for tests.

Please vote YES on Nov. 5 to support CDA kids!
