Ruth A. Clark, 81
Ruth A. Clark, a cherished member of the community, passed away Sept. 11, 2024, at her home in Spirit Lake, Idaho. Born on Jan. 11, 1943, Ruth dedicated her life to service, family and her passions, leaving a deep and enduring impact on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
For over 30 years, Ruth served as a school bus driver, becoming a beloved figure in the lives of many children and families within the area. Those who rode with her, or perhaps worked alongside her, carried away memories of her kindness and dedication. She took great joy in being part of the lives of the young people she transported, always eager to lend a helping hand wherever she could.
Ruth was also an avid golfer, pursuing her passion every chance she got. Whether she played at the Links or the Coeur d'Alene Public course, her love for the game was unmistakable. She had a unique ability to connect with others, often joining up with strangers on the course and engaging them in heartfelt conversation, sometimes knowing everything about them by the end of a round.
When the golfing season came to a close, Ruth turned her attention to her artistic side, spending winter months crafting beautiful cross-stitch pictures that adorned her home, showcasing her talent and dedication to the craft.
Ruth's spirit of service extended beyond her professional endeavors. She served in the Air Force National Guard for 18 years, having joined at the age of 35. Her nurturing nature endeared her to fellow cadets during boot camp, who affectionately referred to her as "Grandma."
Known for her culinary contributions at social gatherings, Ruth’s famous deviled eggs became a staple at any event she attended. Many will surely miss this dish.
Ruth is survived by her son, Jake Clark; daughter-in-law Andrea Clark; granddaughters Bayley Clark and Ashley Bennet; grandson Taylor Bennet; and grandson Preston Clark. She will also be missed by her sister-in-law, Margory, and her close friend, Karen Williams. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Jake G. Clark, and her sister, Mary Baughman.
