KENNEWICK, Wash. — Freshman Ismael Mane recorded a hat trick, all in the first half for 16th-ranked North Idaho College in a 6-0 Scenic West Athletic Conference win over Pacific Northwest Christian at Vista Fields on Saturday.

Freshman Adem Arous had a goal and two assists for NIC (11-0-2, 6-0-2 SWAC), which led 5-0 at halftime.

“We found it very difficult to come here and play on the surface,” NIC coach Brad Williams said. “It was harder to play on than Eisenwinter Field, or any other field that we’ve been on for that matter, so it disrupted our usual style of play. We had plenty of chances on goal with 18 shots.”

NIC faces College of Southern Idaho on Thursday in Twin Falls.

Pacific Northwest Christian is 0-8, 0-8.

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah — Despite 14 kills from Morgan Claus, a sophomore from Moscow High, the Cardinals fell 25-15, 22-25, 25-13, 25-9 to the 13th-ranked Bruins in SWAC play at Bruin Arena.

“We knew for us to counter their size advantage, we would have to be great in the serve and pass game,” NIC coach Drew Pascua said. “And Salt Lake served us really tough today.”

NIC (7-8, 2-1 SWAC) won in three sets over Colorado Northwestern in Rangely, Colo., on Friday night.

“After driving eight hours and competing the night before, we just didn’t have the legs to get our passing in rhythm today,” Pascua said. “And that bled into our offense.”

Freshman Rylie Dolven had 24 assists, freshman Brecklan Weaver 10 digs for NIC, which hosts Utah State-Eastern of Price, Utah, on Thursday.

Salt Lake is 13-8, 2-2.
