PREP ROUNDUP: Lake City opens 1-1 at Rocky tourney

MERIDIAN — Taylor Winey had 24 assists and 10 digs for Lake City, which opened with a 25-16, 25-18, 22-25, 25-19 win over HIghland of Pocatello at the Rocky Mountain tournament on Friday. 

Josie Hocking had six kills and five blocks, Jess Wilson 13 kills and six digs and Daphne Neeley 12 digs for Lake City against Highland. 

Later, Lake City fell to Mountain View of Meridian 25-16, 24-26, 30-28, 25-17 to move to 1-1 in pool play. 

“We played our best volleyball of the season today against some extremely tough competition,” said Lake City coach Michelle Kleinberg, who had libero Daphne Neeley suffer a knee injury against Mountain View. “’Relentless has been an identity that we’ve been working to manifest all season long, and we truly embodied that tonight.” 

Camryn Woodman had six kills and one block, Wilson 12 kills, 11 digs and one block, Taylor Winey 30 assists and four kills and Lola Jeanselme 14 digs for Lake City against Mountain View. 

The Timberwolves (16-7) resume tournament play today at Rocky Mountain High.

GRANGEVILLE — Logan Webber scored two goals for the Bulldogs in an Intermountain League win over the Lumberjacks at Grangeville High. 

St. Maries (0-11, 0-10 IML) hosts Timberlake at City Park on Tuesday to conclude the regular season. 

Grangeville (3-2-4, 3-1-4) hosts Coeur d’Alene Charter today.
