PROP 1: Vote yes

I am hoping and longing for the return of the days when all eligible voters in Idaho, no matter which party they are affiliated with (or not), can vote in our primary elections. I’ve been here nearly five decades and I remember the days of open primaries, where you could vote for the candidate of your choice — no matter their party. Since the Idaho primaries closed over a dozen years ago, many voters who choose to be independent of party labels, are excluded in our elections. That’s nearly 300,000 of our eligible voters, about half of whom are veterans, like my husband. I can’t understand how that’s fair — it seems un-American for that matter. I believe that voting is the most American thing a citizen can do! Let’s give all voters the chance to exert their right, privilege and responsibly as Idahoans and as American citizens. Vote YES on Prop One.
