| October 2, 2024 1:00 AM

At the age of 90, Brian Taylor passed away peacefully Sept. 20 at Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, with family by his side.

Brian was born in the iconic fishing village of Clovelly, England. He served in the Royal Artillery Territorial Army and the Royal Army Medical Corps. After leaving the army, he became an electrician. He immigrated to the United States with his wife and two daughters in October 1970. Brian loved to explore the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest by hiking, motorcycle riding, backpacking and camping whenever he could. He enjoyed many hobbies and interests in his lifetime, including gardening, big band music, airplanes, wood carving and square dancing. However, his greatest passion was for animals, specifically dogs. Throughout his lifetime, Brian almost always had a faithful, four-legged companion by his side.

Brian is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Hester (Jewell) Taylor, and his second wife, Kathy Brandt. He is survived by his closest friend, Joyce Defrehn; his first wife, Margaret Brown; their two daughters, Helen Hanna (David Hanna) and Sarah Taylor (Sandy Stice); his stepson, Douglas Brandt; and grandchildren Brandon Hanna, Christian Hanna, Ryan Hanna and Victoria Brandt.

The memorial will be a private ceremony remembering Brian in the presence of his immediate family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Companions Animal Center (P.O. Box 1005, Hayden, ID 83835) or Hospice of North Idaho (2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815).
