NIC WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: Cardinals battle, but fall to Casper
CASPER, Wyo. — There was some good for the Cardinal women’s basketball team on Friday.
But there were also some things to clean up moving forward.
NIC shot 21 of 47 for the game, but allowed 18 offensive rebounds to fall 63-55 to the Casper Thunderbirds in the opening game of the Casper Thanksgiviing Classic on Friday.
“We had a lot of good first possession stops,” NIC coach Nathan Covill said. “It was a back and forth game, and really close. We had a series of turnovers that hurt us late. We’re still a work in progress and need to find some consistency.”
NIC (3-4) beat Casper (5-4) 67-63 last Thursday at Rolly Williams Court in Coeur d’Alene.
“Casper is a tough place to play,” Covill said. “They’re a tough team. We need to remedy the rebounding and take better care of the ball.”
Esmeralda Galindo scored 13 points for NIC, which faces Western Wyoming of Rock Springs, today at 11 a.m. PST.
Andi Schissler scored 30 points for Casper, which faces Lake Region State today.
