Carter Gordon
Lewis-Clark State cross country
Gordon, a senior from Lake City High, capped his college career, finished 28th in the NAIA Championship in 24 minutes, 33 seconds to earn All-American honors last Friday at Gan Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia, Mo. It was his seventh All-American honor, with six coming in track and field, including an indoor NAIA title in the 800-meter run last season. "It was a great day for Carter to top off his career with another All-American award," Lewis-Clark State coach Mike Collins said.
Matt Whitcomb
Montana Tech football
Whitcomb, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound linebacker from Lake City High, was selected to the Frontier Conference first-team, announced on Monday. Whitcomb made a league-high 100 tackles, including 12.5 tackles-for-loss and 3.5 sacks for the Oredigger defense. He's also forced four fumbles, recovered one, and intercepted a pass. His 100 tackles rank ninth in the NAIA. He was a second-team selection last season. Montana Tech faces Northwestern (Iowa) in the second round of the NAIA Playoffs on Saturday in Butte, Mont.
Derek Pearse

Pearse, a 6-foot-3, 250-pound tight end from Post Falls High, was named an honorable mention to the Frontier Conference team. Pearse has appeared in 10 games for the Orediggers and has five touchdowns on the season, including one touchdown in his last three games.
Jack Prka
Carroll football
Prka, a 6-foot-1, 200-pound senior quarterback from Coeur d'Alene High, was named an honorable mention to the All-Frontier Conference football team, the conference announced. Prka appeared in 10 games for the Saints this season, going 182 for 215 attempts with 2,462 yards and 17 touchdowns. He averaged 246.20 yards per game.
Anna Peters
Utah cross country
Peters, a sophomore from Post Falls High, finished 44th in the NCAA Championships in 20:08 at the Thomas Zimmer Cross Country Course in Verona, Wis. Peters moved up 11 spots by the time she got to the 3k checkpoint and moved from 73rd to 62nd before passing 18 more runners in the final 2,000 meters. Her time was the seventh-fastest by a Ute at the meet since it was moved to a 6K race in 2000. Peters owns the fifth and seventh-fastest individual time at nationals in school history.
• ACADEMIC AWARDS
The NAIA announced its 2024 Fall NAIA Scholar-Athletes, with 20 Lewis-Clark State athletes earning the honor. To qualify, students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 and have attended their institution for least one full year. Locals honored included senior Abbey Neff (volleyball, Lakeland High) and senior Carter Gordon (cross country, Lake City High).
