COEUR d’ALENE — The experience caught up with the Timberwolves on Saturday.

But that’s not to say it won’t be something they’ll learn from.

Sophomore Macy Murphey and senior Sadie Zimmerman scored 12 points each for the Timberwolves, who fell to the Storm of Meridian at Lake City High.

“We gave up a lot of offensive rebounds,” said Lake City coach David Pratt, whose team allowed 17 offensive rebounds in the game. “They’re older, quicker and faster and I’ve got a lot of kids that are still getting used to playing at this level.”

Lake City went 1-2 against District 3 foes this week, beating Mountain View on Thursday, then falling to Boise on Friday. Owyhee was picked to win the 6A Southern Idaho Conference, with Boise finishing second.

“It’s so good for us to play these games,” Pratt said. “We’re playing really good, talented teams. I love playing three days in a row because it simulates a tournament atmosphere and it’s really good for our kids.”

Lake City (3-2) travels to Rocky Mountain of Meridian on Dec. 5.

Riley Beck scored 22 points for Owyhee (5-0).

“We gave up a lot of offensive rebounds,” Post Falls coach Mike Divilbiss said. “They’re a very long team and if you give up a lot of offensive rebounds, you’re going to get into foul trouble as well. We just couldn’t keep them off the boards. The kids are playing hard and extremely well today. I’ve got to do a better job of getting our kids into what they need to do to be successful.”
